 LLM APPLICATION PROCESS 

Application Deadline: January 31 

A completed application file for the LLM programme consists of the following materials:

 (i)      A completed and signed Graduate Studies Application form and payment of application fee (to Registrar's Office);

 (ii)       Official university transcripts (originals or notarized photocopies if in English or French; notarized translations, if in any other language) for every university degree programme attended (sent directly from your university to the Graduate Studies Programme, Schulich School of Law);

 (iii)       Two letters of reference, preferably from academic specialists in law familiar with your work and scholarly capabilities (sent by you after having obtained them from your referees in sealed envelopes or they can be sent directly to the Graduate Studies Programme, Schulich School of Law);

 (iv)      If you are applying to the thesis programme a brief thesis proposal or statement of research area of approximately 300 words. 

 (v)      A complete list of your published works, if any;

 (vi)     A curriculum vitae or resume; and

 (vii)     English language proficiency test results, where applicable.

Non-Canadian candidates whose legal education has been in a language other than English are normally required to pass a recognised English language proficiency test (TOEFL, MELAB or IELTS) to the satisfaction of the Schulich School of Law and the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The Schulich School of Law will only accept a minimum TOEFL score of 600 (paper based) or 250 (computer based) or 100 (internet based).

Students who believe they may be eligible for financial awards having particular criteria should indicate the reasons for this.

JSD APPLICATION PROCESS

 (i)      A completed and signed Graduate Studies Application form and payment of application fee (to Registrar's Office);

 (ii)       Official university transcripts (originals or notarized photocopies if in English or French; notarized translations, if in any other language) for every university degree programme attended (sent directly from your university to the Graduate Studies Programme, Schulich School of Law);

 (iii)       Two letters of reference, preferably from academic specialists in law familiar with your work and scholarly capabilities (sent by you after having obtained them from your referees in sealed envelopes or they can be sent directly to the Graduate Studies Programme, Schulich School of Law);

 (iv)      An outline for proposed dissertation and a detailed description of research plan. (approximately 12 pages)

 (v)      A complete list of your published works, if any;

 (vi)     A curriculum vitae or resume; and

 (vii)     English language proficiency test results, where applicable.
