Income Assistance and Nutrition: Are You Getting What You Need?
Food Security is a situation in which all people at all times can acquire safe, nutritionally adequate, and personally acceptable foods that are accessible in a manner that maintains human dignity. Unfortunately, food security is not a reality for most people on Income Assistance in Nova Scotia.
Dal Legal Aid has created a pamphlet entitled “Income Assistance and Nutrition: Are You Getting What You Need?” This pamphlet is intended to facilitate access to the Special Diet provision by simplifying the information contained in the regulations and by providing recipients with a tool for informing their doctors about the provision. Please feel free to print and distribute this pamphlet, and contact Fiona Traynor or Cole Webber, Community Legal Workers, if you have any questions or feedback.
