Dalhousie Law Students Raise Money for Legal Aid

Over $1000 was raised for the Dalhousie Legal Aid Service during the Social Activist Law Students Association (SALSA)’s annual fundraiser. First Aid for Legal Aid (FA4LA) took place on September 19 with approximately 30 students participating in the two hour event. Participants occupied locations throughout Halifax with noisemakers, musical instruments, signs, and flyers explaining how legal aid in Nova Scotia functions. The goal for the day was to raise awareness about legal aid in Nova Scotia, as well as to raise funds for the service. The Dalhousie Legal Aid Service is funded by the government, but only very specific areas of law are covered.  Fundraisers like FA4LA help cover legal services not provided by the government as well as informing the community about legal aid.
