DALHOUSIE JESSUP TEAM SHINES AT WORLD FINAL

The Dalhousie Law School Jessup mooting team was one of two teams representing Canada

David Mollica, Daniel Watt, Amy Anderson (Mollica)
at the Jessup Moot International Round, held in Washington D.C., April 6-12. Amy Anderson, David Mollica and Daniel Watt competed in the preliminary rounds over the first few days, putting in what Dean Saunders (who attended two of the team's rounds in between judging others) described as "flawless performances."

David Mollica took on the herculean task of arguing both Applicant and Respondent sides in four separate rounds, as team member Michael Fenrick stayed home for the birth of his daughter, Isadora (congratulations, Michael!). Daniel and Amy were only slightly less challenged, facing off against some very strong teams who ended up placing highly in the competition.

In all, the team fared very well, earning compliments from both the judges and the teams they faced. While they did not advance to the final rounds, Dal's "little team that could" won fourth place overall for their Memorials (the written argument in this international law moot), in a field of nearly 100 teams. Also, Amy was ranked the ninth overall mooter in the competition -- a stellar accomplishment in a field of nearly 400 advocates.

Jessup Coach Rob Currie joins the rest of the Dalhousie Law School community in congratulating the team, and once again thanking the generosity of the many people who acted as practice judges while the team was preparing, and who otherwise supported the team. Special thanks to the firms McInnes Cooper and Stewart McKelvey for their generous sponsorship of the team's trip to the international round.
