Storm Policy / Class Cancellations
- The law school does not have the authority to decide to close; only the Vice President can do that. According to information sent to us by Dalhousie administration, the Dalhousie main web page will carry up-to-date storm cancellation information as of 6:00 a.m.. You can check www.dal.ca for current cancellation information or call the University switchboard at 494-2211, which will carry a recorded message if the University is closed.
- If the University is open, then the law school will be too, and classes will go ahead as scheduled, unless a professor is unable to get to the law school because of the storm, in which case that individual class would have to be cancelled.
- If an individual class is cancelled because of weather, the professor will do his or her best to notify students. If the prof has access to an electronic class list at home, he or she will email students to tell them of the cancellation. Otherwise, profs will call the law school reception (494-3495) - assuming that our receptionist is able to get in. Students could call the reception office to see if any information regarding cancellations has been received.
- It is very rare for the University to be cancelled, and rare for classes to be cancelled; that said, if the law school is open but weather or road conditions are bad, obviously each student will have to make an individual assessment about whether or not it is safe to make the trip to the law school.
